PAST

10/1/05 Pierre skate day -Layered Cakes, House 8, Tex Invades

9/24/05 Vermillion!  We played the on campus again. the other bands included Decree, Post Moritz, Tex Invades, and My Monday Regret.  Our set included Familiar Meanderings, Scavenger Hunt, Cut Your Ribbon-Vocals by Casey, Caller ID, Tricky, A Ledge, Lefty, and Arcarsenal-Vocals by Nick.  It was a great time, wonder when we'll play next...

7/22/05 The Poppets finally invade Brookings to a crowd with more people than can fit on a couch, lol. It was scrumtrulescent too. We played, if I can remember, Lefty, Arcarsenal, Cut Your Ribbon, Nation, Caller ID, Tricky, A Ledge, New Hampshire, Familiar Meanderings. The best part was before anyone played we got them to play Ballad Del Mundo. Goth kids don't like Ballad Del Mundo, but it was still grrrrrrrreat!

5/31/05 Pierre-Premier of "Rendition"

5/20/05 Parkston!!! We played with a 6 act line up at Papa B's.  We finally made shirts and sold them. they say 'the poppets is for haters'. good stuff. no one really moved. no one moves like fucking pierre does. the poppets shelf life is running down. thanks.

5/3/05 We rocked Vermillion

3/12/05 Happy B-Day Chris. The Poppets played w/ Tex Invades Japan and 1956 at a free show in Pierre.

2/20/05 #12.  The Poppets invade Yankton, claiming another town of SD. We played first, with such songs as N.H., Nation, ATDI, Sparta, ID, Tricky, Lefty, and Unrest. Following us was the band Luck from Sioux Falls, a rock band w/ turntables. The final band was Gadtrat, Canton natives and SDSU neighbors, which rocked like always. I heart Gadtrat. And thanks again for lending me that bass amp Rob. Thanks for everyone who showed up. -Corey

1-22-05 Technicolor release super fantastic show. Remember? I was there.

11/13/04 We played at the West Memphis Benefit show in Vermillion. The other bands were King's Hookeye, Hollander, Forgotten Voices and Sleepeater. The tune's included Lefty, Arcarsenal, Pacemaker, New Hampshire, Splendid Meandering, Unrest, Cut Your Ribbon and that might be it. Fuck it, i'm done.  No one reads this shit, its just here to remind me. -Corey

10/2/04 The Poppets rocked again! We played the chamber with one of our best performances (or at least I felt we were good). The setlist included "New Hamshire", "Steakout", Sparta's "Cut Your Ribbon", "Meanderings", "Caller ID", At The Drive-In's "Arcarsenal", "Lefty",and "Unrest" (I think that's the exact order). We gave away 28 free cds, and I had made 23 of them the 2 days before, so it looks like we have some new fans! Kick ass! We were followed by Ameranth, who seems like they had an off night and just weren't that great. I have seen them play better. Following them was Southerly which was a solo acoustic player who rocked everyone's faces off. The greatest duo of all time, the bass/drum outfit V9R9D played a great show, like they usually do. The fact that we played the same show as them is fucking awesome! Closing the show was everyone's favourite local hardcore band Diseased. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. See you in November in Brookings for the greatest show ever (if it happens). Later. -Corey

6/11/04 We played a gig w/ Dave O'Connell in the SAE house in Brookings.  The rocking of the casbah took place in a living room for about a dozen people.  It was awesome though.  -CB

12/16/03-Al bailed out on the show last night...so we played an accoustic set...and hilarity insued.  We played "Unrest" "Steakout" "Cut Your Ribbon" "Lefty" "Scavanger Hunt" and "Polly" to a crowd consisting of 2 people who arranged the show, 6 people in the other band, and 4 people who got lost and ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time.  Blood In/Blood Out played after us to the same crowd, poor guys.  They were hard rock and played well.  Hopefully they have learned their lesson on playing weekday shows as well as we have.  Until next time-jason

12/10-Hey guys! (like anyone is gonna read this) Sorry it's been awhile since we've had any news.  Last friday we played the Battle of the Bands at riggs high school.  It was a ton of fun and we played with some great bands, plus we won so that was a bonus.  Shageki started the night off with their crazy beats and rythms, they took 3rd place.  Then we played and had a great time.  The third band was Chain and they were pretty rocking and heavy.  Then bringing up the rear was AmerAnt (please forgive me if i spelled it wrong, i'm an idiot) they were awsome.  They played 4 origional songs and then whipped out the Zeppelin.  With the help of Brendon Newman on guitar and Jake Shoup on vocals they covered "Stairway to Heaven" which was amazing.  They took a close second and got us a little paranoid.  It was a blast and we thank everyone that came out and showed their support. take it easy.-Jason

P.S.:We played- "A Ledge", "Cut Your Ribbon" (cover of Sparta w/ guest vocals by Taman Eggers), "New Hampshire", a new untitled song,  "Unrest", "Stakeout", "Scavenger Hunt", and "Lefty".-corey (dushku)

9/19/03-Show 5.  The Animated Goodies, from Brookings SD, played first.  Pretty good punk rock.  Then we played.  'Scavenger Hunt', 'New Hampshire', 'Steakout', 'A Ledge', 'Lefty', and "Unrest'.  Then as encore we played the choppiest version of Sparta "Cut Your Ribbon" that we ever had.  That song was not planned, but we have been working on it.  Next time we'll try it with lyrics.  The singer from Bible of the Devil told me we were good, hurray!!!  Then they played and kicked some major ass and threw in a cover of Van Halen's "Atomic"..  I have both BotD cds and I love them.  We feel left out because the Animated Goodies played "Beer Run" and BotD played "Drinkin the Pay" yet we have no beer songs, oh well.
-Peace, from your sober friends, The Poppets

7/14/03 Public performance #4 at the Chamber.  We played the 5 songs from our E.P. and the new ones "Scavenger Hunt" and "Theatre Major" and some other bands played.  This site it boring and I hate it.  Poppets lyrics in the making...

5/25/03 - We kicked off the show playing "Nation", "New Hampshire", "A Ledge", "Unrest", "Steakout", and "Lefty".  Those are all of our complete songs, but have 2 or 3 more ideas in the making.  Then Brian Jones played (its a band, not a guy).  They rocked the house, er, amplitheater.  Then Crosstide played, and they were also great.  And then Woke up Falling, which was great.

5/18/03- I'm proud to announce that we have recorded material.  Our very low-cost, not so high-quality production may be released as an E.P. and/or split cd with Shageki.  We have 5 songs and are working on design and prodution.  Soon you will enjoy The Poppets within the safety of your own home!!!  (Heard the song on the home page? That's 47.55 seconds of "New Hampshire" repeating over and over...)

5/8/03 Finally, Battle of The Bands!  First up was Al's other band, Shageki, playing all original.  People liked them and I thought they did well, but Al said their timing was off.  Second was LOCO.  They did a good job with a few covers and some original.  Third up was 2 members of Omniflow who played acoustics and sang.  Their set included covers of The Gourds "Gin & Juice", Pink Floyd "Wish You Were Here", Sublime "What I Got", Incubus "Drive" and some others.  They were really good, and they had a good singer.  Fourth up, The Poppets.  Holy shit did we exceed our expectations.  We got everyone rocking even though Jason was out of tune on the last song.  We played our own songs "New Hampshire", "A Ledge", "Unrest", "Lefty", and "Steakout".  During one of the last songs, the singer of Omniflow was up crowd surfing (as seen in our pic section).  It was a spectacular site seeing everyone rocking out to us, I never thought it would happen. Number five was Random Hate, a five piece band that played covers of Sepultura and Metallica.  They really kicked some ass.  Number six was Havannah.  They weren't too bad, they had their own little crowd of fans but others there didn't seem too into them.  The seventh spot was of some sophmore's and some seniors.  They switched around instruments and covered some Incubus and Boxcar Racer.  They were good.  The final act, just there to entertain, was Men @ School, a four piece made up of teachers.  They covered songs including Jimmy Eat World "The Middle" and The Kinks "You Really Got Me".  THE RESULTS: 1st place: Omniflow, 2nd place THE POPPETS!!!, 3rd place:  Random Hate.

3/21/03-First Poppets show ever!  Because of some problems the show was almost cancelled, but we used the Service Master shop for it.  It's Chris' dad's shop where we practice, and we got all the bands up there for the show.  We played first with 1 cover and 4 of our own:  "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "New Hampshire", "Steakout", "Lefty", and "Nation".  We did good, but we were all pretty nervous though.  Then LOCO played, Aaron and Jordan switching between drums and guitar.  They played some covers and a couple of their own.  Then local band Diseased played.  They were good like always.  The last band was Humble Ary from Denver.  They rocked.  The show ended up to be pretty cool.

Novemeber 2002:  Jason & Chris plan formation of a band, name it The Poppets.  Corey offers to play bass.  Later, Alex gets drums and joins the band.
